Art Fair Weekend Featured Artist #5 -John Cartwright

John Cartwright has been interested in preserving the history of the railway since he was a boy. When John was young, his father would drive him around to various stations so that he could take photographs. John now uses many of his early photographs to create his fabulous ink drawings. He has files upon files of images from railway stations from all around the midwest that he has visited. His passion is intuitive and deep. When asked if he includes any skies from his photographs in his ink sketches, he says that he doesn't. He wants the viewer's eye to focus on other details. He does, however include some skies in his hand colored drawings. You can find out more about John Cartwright and see more of his railroad art on his website here.
