work in progress

This is a page spread I am currently working on in my journal for Juliana Coles' online class called Initiation.  There is a lot more to do, but I thought I'd share this stage with you here.  The underneath layer has various masking/duct tape, writing with pens, and some printed shapes using acrylic paint.  The top layer so far  has acrylic paint and Nupastel.

Flowers

(I almost deleted this photo, but then I thought, "Wait, this would make a great journal page, LK Ludwig style!")

I love roses!

Handmade Congratulations Card

This is the card I made for my sister on her graduation day.  I used an airbrush with acrylic paint, mixed with water, in glass jars.  (My smart husband helped me get set up like this).  I also used commercial stencils.  I think these were from The Crafter's Workshop.  The word "CONGRATULATIONS" was created using rub on letters by American Crafts (Brady Font).
Note:  This photo is of the card opened, so you are seeing the back (yellow and green) and the front (red and green) of the card.

Congratulations to MY SISTER!!!!

I am so proud of my sister.  Today she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Business and Fine Art.  It has been a long, long road for her, and it would have been really easy to have given up on getting that degree.  Yet, she persevered through all kinds of difficulties.
It is never too late to go back to school, or to go to college for the first time.  An education is something that can not be taken away from you.   Congratulations, Laura!  You are beautiful, and you have cool shoes, too!
(If you like fun and funky shoes, you must check out Fluevog shoes!!!  By the way, I just saw on their site, that May 15th is International Fluevog Day!  There are deals to be had, and who doesn't enjoy getting a great pair of shoes for a great price?!)

Buke and Gass at the Cedar Cultural Center

Tune-Yards at the Cedar Cultural Center

It was a busy one, this past weekend.  It involved celebrating Mother's Day, looking at wild birds, walking at Lake Harriet, and going to a concert at the Cedar Cultural Center.  Sometimes that's just how it goes.  Busy, busy!  How was your weekend?  Did you have any celebrating to do?

Goddess Leonie's Business Goddess E-Course is Released!!!!

Goddess Leonie, the creator of GoddessGuidebook.com, has written a glorious new e-course to help all aspiring business goddesses out there!  Goddess Leonie supports herself, her husband (who is in school), and their baby.  She is full of ideas and strategies that she is thrilled to be sharing with those of us who are yearning for this type of information.  My recommendation would be to become a member of the Goddess Circle, and that way you get the new e-course, as well as all of her previous e-courses and guided meditations.  Did I mention that Goddess Leonie is from Australia and has the most glorious accent??  So, if you are wishing to start your own business, and you'd like to get a lot of tips in doing so, I highly recommend this How to Be A Business Goddess E-Course by Goddess Leonie Allan.  I am printing the 149 pages right now, as I type this blog post!  EEek!  I am so excited.  Thank you Goddess Leonie for making such cool material and sharing it with the world!!!!!
