Mandala Journal

Look what I found when I was cleaning up my art studio! I was digging in a bag that I brought with me when I taught workshops to adults on the subject of creativity and/or spirituality. I miss this journal! I am definitely going to start using it again.
What treasures have you uncovered while cleaning your art space?

Local Artist -Theresa Harsma

I am excited to share some more photos from the MCBA Book Arts Fair that occurred last weekend. This post is all about local book artist Theresa Harsma. She participates in the Visual Journal Collective with me, which is facilitated by the ever popular Roz.
Anyway, I was really excited to see some of Theresa's work in person, especially her fused plastic bag pouches/purses. Theresa loves to use recycled materials. She also makes beautifully bound books and journals. Enjoy!

NEW Holga Art Photo Prints-SALE

Photography is a huge, huge love of mine. I have been working really hard to figure out some way to make my photos interesting enough to sell (insert bad words to inner critic).
Well, I finally learned some things in Photoshop and am happy to announce the new Holga Art Photo Prints (set of 4). I am doing a promotion right now. If you buy 4 sets (I have 5 different varieties available), you'll get the 5th set FOR FREE. I priced these really reasonably. I did a lot of research and most people sell their art prints for $8-$15 a piece. I am selling sets of 4 art prints for $6.50 + $1.00 shipping. If any of this sparks your interest, please stop on by my OrangeSpiral Etsy shop here.

Thanks for looking! If you have any nice things to share, please leave me a comment. (I love your comments!)

Local Artist Emily Floyd

My friend Emily Floyd is at it again. She keeps creating the most awesome earrings, necklaces and wrist cuffs. You might remember me mentioning her work from the summer art fairs I attended in Minneapolis. However, this past weekend I saw her at the Vine Arts Center in Minneapolis where they were holding a holiday sale. There will be another holiday sale in December, so be sure to stop by and check it out. You can get more info about the Vine Arts Center holiday sale here.

By the way, you can also purchase Emily's wrist cuffs at Gallery 360 any day of the week!

Oh My Eyes . . . But Look What I Did!

Action: Expired Polaroid with Lomo effects

Action: Regular Polaroid with Lomo Effects

Action: Some kind of vintage overlays and color burn

Action: Holga with dust and dirt

Action: Lomo effect

Action: Polaroid and maybe a vintage layer

Action: Vintage effect-makes things pink
Yes, these are bones, and they were FOR SALE at Hunt & Gather!

The title of this post is "Oh My Eyes" because I am not used to sitting in front of a computer screen for this many hours. I couldn't help myself, however. I love learning new things, and now that I can download free actions into Photoshop, I JUST CAN'T STOP! I love photos and altering them. I am learning as I play. I still don't truly know what I am doing.
However, a new site I can share for getting free actions is right here.

Hunt and Gather

I love Hunt & Gather in Minneapolis. These photos were taken yesterday as I walked around the shop. There are soooooo many interesting things to see, touch, smell, and yesterday-taste. They will probably have wine and cheese again today for their 20% off everything event. I think their hours are 12-5pm today. Stop on by if you are in the Minneapolis, MN area!

Gallery 360

There were so many cool events happening in Minneapolis today. One of them that I attended was the Gallery 360 and Hunt & Gather storewide 20% off sale. The sale continues tomorrow (Sunday, November 21st, 2010) as well.

AT GALLERY 360 . . .
The first few photos are ornaments created by one of my all time favorite artists Barbara Gilhooly. (If you click on her name, you'll be taken to her flickr page where you can see more work by Gilhooly).

I enjoyed seeing these collaged images by Cori Dantini.

I also saw a lot of awesome sculptures (pictured below), jewelry, and other handmade items. Some of my favorite jewelry was made by Jaime Jo Fisher. Click on her name and you'll see why her work is soooo coool!

Finally, another favorite item was a book hand bound by Julie Schneider.

Oh, and Painted Fish Studio had some great ornaments, blank journals, and a super cool polaroid project book (WORD: A Polaroid Collaboration between Jen and Jen). See more by Painted Fish Studio here.
