Lissie

My sister introduced me to a new artist that she heard on 89.3 The Current.
Her name is Lissie. I am totally into her music and her bohemian/hippie style. Enjoy!

Rainbow SWAP

Nicole from California hosted a rainbow SWAP! It is hard to resist
something like this for a person like me who ADORES color. For me,
color makes the world go 'round. Ok, LOVE does, too.

Here my baggies, as I am just getting started.
And then . . . .

J'ai fini!

Goodies I Picked Up at the Supply Swap

I almost forgot to show you all of the great stuff I picked up from the supply swap on Monday. Suzanne is a high school art teacher. She brought a stack of painted papers. She said that she has so many drawers full of it at home, that it was time to get rid of some. I happily took it off of her hands!
Second, I picked up a bag of zippers. The bag is labeled "old zippers". How could I resist?
Third, I picked up a baggie full of rubber stamps that have words about mail art and other cool stuff that I like.
Finally, the black box you see belonged to Roz. She placed a label on top of the box stating that whomever chooses the box must email her with details about how we use it (because she's curious). Also, inside there is a fuzzy red insert. On top of that was a dead dragonfly in a baggie. The owner of the box is instructed to draw the dragonfly (Roz is always telling us to draw) and send her a photo of our drawing. So, I will put it on my TO DO list. I'll share the drawing on this blog as well. What treasures have you picked up lately? Have you ever participated in an art supply swap? How about a swap through the mail?

MCBA Visual Journal Collective Meeting Supply Swap

On Monday, October 18th, I went to my monthly Visual Journal Collective meeting at MCBA. I was sad to have missed the September meeting when I was on my road trip out West. The meeting I missed was about travel journals. A bunch of people shared their journals with the group. I wish I could have seen them, but I was traveling! This past Monday there was a supply swap and auction. It was SOOOOO much fun. After the swap was over, people who had new things to share stood up or spoke from their spot, like Roz is doing in the photo below. It is wonderful to see other people's art work.
This is our fearless leader/facilitator Roz Stendahl. It is always so fun when she shares her journal pages with us.

Isn't that sketch just wonderful?

This man sketched his way through the entire meeting, except when the supply swap was going on. That was inspiring to see someone so dedicated. Other people were drawing or working in their journals, as well. I almost did, but didn't have the right journal with me. Instead, I brought my travel journal to share with people. I am still working on the journaling part, and will share photos with you as things progress.
I love the Visual Journaling Collective. I feel so blessed to be a part of it!
