The first stage of painting
The completed painting inspired by a quilt from Gee's Bend
Today was the first day of
Get Your Paint On with
Mati McDonough and
Lisa Congdon. They had the clever idea of having us look at images of the quilts from
Gee's Bend for inspiration. Boy did I have fun! I love color and shapes, so this was a perfect exercise for me. And guess what? I DID get my paint on, and it felt awesome!

i still have to clear off a work space!
i don't know what it is called but the books on either side of your blog are Gee's Bend Quilt like! love the painting too!
Your quilt painting looks so much like an inspiration of the women of Gee's Bend Quilts.
I was able to see the exhibition when it came to the Art Museum in Milwaukee WI. a few years ago.
It was fantastic.
I remember walking around this huge room full of Quilts hanging on the walls, suspended from the ceiling, worn denim, cut up feed sacks, overalls, brightly colored dresses, all part of some of the most intriguingly beautiful Quilts I have ever seen. Great job!
