Photos from the Weekend (Lots of Self-Portraits)

This weekend I wanted to clean up my art studio.  I accomplished one small task, which was to shift and organize my art magazines.  I love Cloth Paper Scissors and nearly all of the Somerset Studio publications.  I can't wait to receive Artful Blogging in the mail for the February issue.  (My husband bought me a subscription in the fall for my birthday.)

I am continuing to learn more and more about the camera and apps on my iphone 4.  (Thank you LK Ludwig for your great iphone online class!!!)  I am in absolute heaven with all that I can do to alter the pics.  Please forgive the multitude of self-portraits in this post.  I was also trying to take different shots of my face so that I can draw it well for Misty Mawn's class Stretching Within.

Making an Igloo

My engineer-minded, nature lovin' husband came up with the idea that he'd like to make an igloo.  He read some things online here, and away he went!  It was a fun and challenging process.  I even helped a little!  Oh, and I was the "resident" photographer-no pun intended (hee hee).

I've been going a little crazy playing around with my new "toy".  I recently got an iphone 4 and I LOVE IT!  I can't believe technology and all that we have access to literally right in our pocket!  Poor high school teachers.  How do you manage to keep your students' attention?  

I have only had a little time to mess around with the photo apps.  I am learning a ton.  One thing I know for sure is that they are amazing!  I wish the camera was a little better, but small pictures look just fine.  I am also pleased to have one of my greatest mysteries solved from the blog world.  I couldn't figure out how all of these bloggers were posting such awesomely framed photos with such ease.  Granted if you know how to use Photoshop or some other editing software, you can do almost anything to your photos.  And, if you have an iphone, it is REALLY easy to take a picture, edit it quickly and post it on the internet.  What a beautiful blogging tool.  I still love my Canon PowerShot Digital Elph, so you won't be seeing only 5.0 megapixel iphone 4 shots on this blog.  However, you might get a few from the iphone in the near future as I continue to play and learn.  What's your favorite new art tool?

Get Your Paint On! (Another irresistible E-Course)

I've come across another online art class that looks AMAZING.  It is led by Mati Rose and Lisa Congdon. They are both successful artists.  Mati Rose McDonough is a painter and Lisa Congdon is an illustrator who has created work for my favorite publisher Chronicle Books.  You can find out all of the glorious details about the online course Get Your Paint On! right here.  This class starts on January 31st, 2011 and runs for five weeks.  The cost is $99.  Mark your calendar.  And tell your artist friends!

2011 is HERE!

I hope you all had a terrific New Year.  Sorry I was out of blogland for a few days.  I missed it!
It's been a time spent with family and friends in both good times and bad.
I am in complete denial that it is 2011!!!!  I have so many things I want to do, I feel overwhelmed!  Do you feel that way, too?  I want to make some goals for 2011.  I'll be using Goddess Leonie's 2011 Workbook, which you can find here.  I also have several online classes I want to make progress in, as well as a couple of new ones starting this month.  One of which is Misty Mawn's Stretching Within course, which starts on Monday, January 10th.  I am really excited to be in a class taught by Misty.  The other course I'll be starting in January 2011 is the next session of Mondo Beyondo. I have heard so many good things about these workshops, I had to sign up!
One of my main goals for 2011 is to improve my art skills, my consistency with my art making, and sharing what I create with the world.
